First Shot!

Ok, so today we had our long awaited doctor's appointment to hear the heart beat and make sure everything was developing normally! When we got there we had to do a brief family medical history and then the nurse took us into the room to do my exam and hear the heart beat. So she takes out her little black cordless monitor and places it on my stomach. She starts moving it around...nothing. After about 3 or 4 minutes of doing that, we STILL hear nothing. Uh oh! What is going on??? So she orders an transvaginal ultrasound (if anyone can imagine a long rubbery thing that has to go INSIDE you) so that we could possibly see the heart beat. Well we wait about 10 min to be taken to that room and I am nervous as heck...possibly the longest 10 min of my life. Poor Andy is so calm...trying to de-stress me! Finally we go in and the tech tried to do the ultrasound ON TOP of my stomach before she went inside :( Couldnt see anything! So she asks, "Ok Mrs. Vaughn, can you insert this WAND just like you would a tampon?" I was like WHAT??? Uh, OK...in it goes and we are watching the screen as the side of my cervix squishes together and the wand smashes the walls of my inards :) She moves it around to check my ovaries...everything looked normal. At this point I am thinking, "come on lady! Get to the baby already!" And FINALLY, there it is...we could see the tiny baby shaped person and the little heart fluttering, AND it did a couple of kicks for us! Yay! There really is a baby in there! This must have been the coolest thing I have seen in my life. I look over at Andy and he has a BIG smile on his face...I think it's really real for him now. We are going to be parents! After my ultrasound, the doc came in and told us everything looked great, but warned me I may have some bleeding due to my cervix being so sensitive right now. At the time it didnt phase me, but low and behold, I am indeed bleeding but glad to know it is normal :) Praise God for a good report today!

Newsflash!!

Ok, once again, we are VERY sorry for the late updates. Due to our jobs being overwhelming and demanding, we haven't found much time to be the "bloggers" that we envisioned ourselves to be :( With that being said, our latest news will compel us to keep our dear friends and family that live SO far away updated on our crazy, but exciting lives. Now, for the latest...Jahna is PREGNANT! Ok, so this may be old news for some, but for others this may come as a shock :) We are expecting our bundle of joy next March and couldn't be more excited! She is feeling great and very happy that morning sickness seems to have bypassed her (we are keeping our fingers crossed!). Jahna just started her new job as a 3rd grade teacher and we are very thankful for that. This has been an unanswered prayer for us for quite some time. Praise the Lord! With this comes joy and concerns as Jahna needs to stay healthy during this time. With the Swine Flu on the rise, this brings concerns and much needed prayer for God's protection over her. She has been blessed with a great class though, so we are thankful for that.
As for Andy, football season is indeed in FULL swing. Today ends the 3 weeks of camp that has kept him at work from 7 am to 10 pm everyday :) Jahna is quite excited it's over. On the other hand, this does not mean the long days have ended. The Blue Raiders season begins next weekend with the opening game against CLEMSON! Ironic huh? About 60% of the MTSU staff used to work at Clemson...should be a good game! As mentioned at the beginning, now that we will be experiencing new and exciting things in the next 7 months, we will do our best to keep this blog updated. Belly pictures and updates are soon to come...there isn't much of a belly bump just yet! Right now we are taking it one day at a time and looking forward to hearing our little ones' heartbeat on Monday!
